Android Auto is fantastic, but it can be prone to errors like the pixelation bug some users are seeing. A quick check of Google’s Product Forums finds multiple reports of the issue dating back to September of 2017. Luckily, Google is finally looking into a fix.

A member of the Android Auto team now states that they’re working with the Android OS team to address the issue. This is a step in the right direction and hopefully, the fix comes soon.

When the bug pops up, Android Auto looks like a bad JPEG picture from 2003, and it’s pretty hard to see whats on the display. The challenge for Google will probably be narrowing down why this happens in the first place. So far, this seems to affect multiple devices running both Android 7.1 Nougat and Android 8.0 and 8.1 Oreo. The issue also pops up on multiple types of cars and different head units.

If you’re experiencing the same pixelation bug, hit the button below and tell Google about it. We’ll keep our eyes peeled and let you know when it pushes a fix.
